Doing something or nothing (Friday Workshop)
We have 24 hours. A world will come into being and be dissolved again. It will exist long enough to connect weirdly shaped strings to worlds and beings, both within the mountains of the fjord, and far far way.
We begin by closing the doors.
After 12 hours, we flip the switch and everything we say and do for the next 12 hours will vibrate at certain frequencies and be picked up by microphones, travel through the copper inside cables covered in PVC, enter into a mixer, then into a circuitboard and turned into data, sent through long cables buried in the ground and underneath the sea, spread across the world and into homes and houses where it will travel invisibly through the air as electromagnetic waves and be picked up, grabbed by perhaps a computer, transformed from data back into vibrations with a frequency the human ear can detect.
All we have to do, is to be there. Doing something or nothing. For 24 hours.
Please bring warm clothes.
The performance begins Thursday night 21.00 and last 24 hours.
Everyone involved will receive more information one week before the performance begins.
Jonatan Spejlborg (DK) is living and working in Iceland, currently running the experimental art school LungA School and is part of the Heima Art residency, both located in Seyðisfjörður, East Iceland.
He was also part of starting the local radio station ‘107,1 - Seyðisfjörður Community Radio’ in 2017.
His praxis in founded on enthusiasm about life and living in all its forms and about how it feels and sounds when something meets something else and what becomes of that meeting.
The LungA School is an independent, artist-led institution and situation experimenting with artistic practice as a way of doing, thinking and being in order to cultivate, disturb, distort and transform our notions of aesthetics, learning and perception.
The HEIMA Art residency is an artist-led structure that holds temporary curated collectives of international artists in a house and studio in Seyðisfjörður.
